Citizens of Delnice informed about the project of water supply and wastewater during the public gathering

DELNICE, 27 June 2019 – Citizens of Delnice had the opportunity during the promotional gathering to get to know better the project of water supply and wastewater in their city, financed by the Swiss-Croatian cooperation program. The representatives of the Komunalac Delnice and Hrvatske vode talked to citizens about the project during an unformal gathering on the main square, informing them about the importance of the project for the local community and Gorski kotar. 

“Delnice will finally receive a sewage collector, which will mean that the last settlements of Ploškovo, Vučnik, will also be connected to the collector, and in the meantime we will protect our original and have even better drinking water,” said the Mayor of Delnice, Ivica Knežević during the public event, adding that the project is “a truly irreplaceable, historic, capital project that we would not have been able to realize without the help of a Swiss grant in the next hundred years.”

The projects for the improvement of sewage and wastewater treatment, as well as the water supply infrastructure in Delnice and the municipalities of Fužine and Brod Moravice, will contribute to the protection of groundwater and sustainable economic development, and provide better and more reliable access to public utilities in the said city and municipalities. As a result of the mentioned projects, 90% of households are projected to be connected to the drainage system by 2020. In addition, the agglomerations of Delnice, Fužine, Brod Moravice will reduce the drinking water loss rate from 52% in 2015 to 34% in 2020.

At the beginning of this year, we started the construction works on the area of ​​the three agglomerations of Delnice, Fužine, Brod Moravice. At the moment, we have over HRK 60 million worth of contracted works, in my estimation by the end of this year, between HRK 20 and 25 million will be realized, ”added Boro Tomić, director of Komunalac Delnice company. 


The projects are funded by the Swiss-Croatian Cooperation Program, with a total value of 21.5 million Swiss francs, of which the Swiss contribution is 85% and the contribution of the Republic of Croatia is 15%. The planned deadline is 2021.
